Spr12 - DButler practice web (4-4).jpgOne year ago today, the NIU football team, Northern Illinois community and all of Huskie Nation awoke to the news that NIU linebacker Devon Butler had been shot and was in surgery in at OSF St. Anthony's Hospital in Rockford.  It was an anxious time.

After a long recovery that required him to sit out the 2011 season, Butler is back and through the first five practices of spring football, has regained his starting middle linebacker's job.  ESPN.com's Andrea Adelson caught up with Butler, NIU head coach Dave Doeren and former linebacker coach Tom Matukewicz for this update.

Also in the news today, HuskieWire's Anthony Zilis takes a look at the running backs position and Yahoo! Sports has an early look at the 2012 Huskies.
