The Northern Illinois football team was determined to defeat their next opponent after losing their season opener at Soldier Field against the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Huskies dominated their home field against the UT Martin Skyhawks on Saturday earning a 35-7 victory.

Quarterback Jordan Lynch created a new record for himself completing 19 passes of 25 attempts for 214 yards in a single game.  Lynch also rushed the ball for 60 yards with 11 carries; three of which were touchdowns.

Running back Leighton Settle also performed well on the ground rushing for a total of 106 yards with 21 carries. This marks Settle's first 100-yard plus game.

The Huskie defense stopped the Skyhawks in the redzone on several important plays. The defense held the Skyhawks to a maximum of seven points, which came later in the fourth quarter.

After a big win, the huskies look forward to their next rival, Army.
