WRAP UP OF NIU's SPRING GAME

Jordan Lynch 3.jpgThe Northern Illinois University football team conducted its 15th and final practice of the spring with the Huskies' Red-White scrimmage at Huskie Stadium Saturday afternoon. Quarterback Jordan Lynch starred as the Red squad defeated the White team, 31-6. Lynch eliminated any doubts Huskie fans had that he could succeed Chandler Harnish, throwing for 402 yards and four touchdowns.

NFL DRAFT A WEEK AWAY

Chandler Harnish passing.jpgThe NFL Draft is now a week away and the publicity for former NIU quarterback Chandler Harnish is picking up. Jeff Dickerson of ESPNChicago.com posted this story on the NFL hopeful yesterday in his Bears Report blog. Dennis Dillon of SI.com filed this excellent article on Harnish today.

Another former Huskie with NFL aspirations, Scott Wedige, received some pub over the weekend. Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune, who has been breaking down the NFL Draft by position and previewed the centers on Sunday. Wedige was rated at No. 7 of the 14 centers listed and the last to receive a write up.

TWO WEEKS TO THE DRAFT

Harnish-Shrine.jpgThe the 2012 NFL Draft two weeks away Huskie fans are starved for information on Northern Illinois' NFL hopefuls. Dan Pompei of the Chicago Tribune broke down his top quarterback prospects in today's Trib and NIU's Chandler Harnish came in at No. 14. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel posted this write up on Harnish in its Packer Blog. Former NFL executive Gil Brandt broke down NIU's Pro Day for the NFL.com's Pro Day Blog. He singled out the performances of Harnish, Scott Wedige and Nathan Palmer.












WHERE ARE THEY NOW

Salerno-Mike-2009-008.jpgFormer Huskie placekicker Mike Salerno is back home kicking for the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League. The Rush are off the a 4-0 start and Salerno is 1-1 on field goals, kicking a 16-yarder against Tampa Bay in the season opener. He also has 39 kickoffs to his credit. Salerno and the Rush travel to Georgia in search of a franchise best 5-0 start when they take on the Force Saturday.
