Northern Illinois senior tackle Nabal Jefferson is one of 147 candidates across college football for the 2012 National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Awards, presented by Fidelity Investments, as well as being named a semifinalist for the 2012 William V. Campbell Trophy. Only one senior can be nominated by each university for the awards, which represent college football student-athletes who excel on the field and in the classroom. Here is what Jefferson has to say about his honors:
Junior kicker Matt Sims extended the MAC West Conference Player of the Week to five weeks for a Huskie player, after being chosen as the MAC West Specialist of the Week. Sims recorded a career high 17 points in the Huskies 55-24 victory over Central Michigan, including a seven yard rushing touchdown off a fake field goal. We caught up with Sims to discuss his award and the victory over Central Michigan:
