|Week's Achievements: Anderson threw a complete game shutout versus reigning College World Series participant Kent State Saturday night, striking out eight, to defeat the Golden Flashes, 3-1. It was the first complete game of his career and NIU's third of the season. His eight strikeouts tied a personal-best. Due to poor field conditions in DeKalb, the Huskies played at Les Miller Field on the campus of UIC. Despite the frigid temperatures in downtown Chicago that night, Anderson scattered five hits, struck out eight and only allowed three walks. He loaded the bases in the third with one out and fanned the final two batters to end the threat. With runners on third and second in the fourth with one down, Anderson forced a line out and struck out the final batter to end the threat. In his final four innings of work, the Glenview, Ill. native only allowed one base runner, a walk in the eighth inning.
