DeKALB, Ill. -- Northern Illinois coaches and athletic staff, including football coach Jerry Kill and basketball coaches Carol Owens and Ricardo Patton, will hit the road again this May for the annual Huskie Spring Caravans. Northern Illinois fans, alumni and supporters are invited to join the coaches in Rockford, Chicago, St. Charles and DeKalb/Sycamore to talk Huskie Athletics in a relaxed and informal setting.

This year's events will take place every Thursday in May from 5-7 p.m., beginning May 8 in Rockford, where Rockford natives and NIU assistant coaches Brian Anderson (football) and Carl Armato (women's basketball) will be in attendance, along with Patton, Owens and other Huskie head coaches, at Giovanni's, 610 N. Bell School.

One week later, on Thursday, May 15, Kill and Owens highlight the Huskie line-up at Goose Island Wrigleyville (3535 N. Clark Street) where Northern Illinois fans will gather following the Cubs-San Diego Padres game. From 5-7 p.m., Northern Illinois radio partner WSCR 670 The Score will broadcast live from Goose Island where guests will include Kill, who will discuss the upcoming college football season, his first at NIU.

On Thursday, May 22, Patton, Owens and Kill and more are scheduled to attend the Huskie Caravan stop at the Filling Station in St. Charles, 300 W. Main Street, from 5-7 p.m.

The 2008 Spring Tour will conclude May 29 with a gathering for all Huskie fans in the DeKalb and Sycamore area at Johnny's Charhouse, 1950 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore from 5-7 p.m. Kill, Owens and Patton are scheduled to attend along with several other Huskie head coaches and athletic administrators.

The NIU Athletics Spring Caravans are held as part of the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund Spring Drive, the annual effort to increase membership in the program's primary direct support organization. The HASF provides critical resources to each of NIU's 17-sports programs and 467 student-athletes.

In addition to meeting, talking to and hearing from the Huskie coaches at the Caravan events, Northern Illinois fans can get information on purchasing 2008 football season tickets as well as tickets to any single game during the season. Fans also have the opportunity to join or renew their membership in the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund at the caravan stops.
