DEKALB, Ill. -- Morris White has joined the NIU Athletics Department as the Huskies’ new Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Game Experience, NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier announced Tuesday.

White comes to NIU from Murray State, where he spent three years, most recently as Director of Marketing and Promotions. During his time with the Racers, White coordinated all social media efforts, assisted with corporate sales, oversaw the student cheering section and managed the student intern marketing program. White was recently selected to participate in the inaugural Learfield Sports Minority Academy in partnership with the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association.

In 2012, Murray State earned the Silver Award from the National Association of College Marketing Administrations (NACMA) for an Interactive Social Media Program and also won the Silver Award for Promotional Schedule Poster design in 2013. White currently serves on the NACMA Young Professionals Committee and was the NACMA Conference Representative for the Ohio Valley Conference. He also participated in the NACMA Professional Development Mentoring Program.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., White attended Northwest Missouri State, where he was a four-year football letter winner and earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2005.

White was named the Director of Athletic Marketing, Promotions and Licensing at Northwest Missouri in 2006. While with the Bearcats, White was in charge of corporate sponsorships, interns and the licensing program, while also coordinating all game day promotions and events. Northwest Missouri won 13 national awards in four years from NACMA.

While at Northwest Missouri, White graduated from the NCAA Leadership Institute for Ethnic Minority Males and Females in 2010 and served as a facilitator for the 2009-10 NCAA Division II Leadership Academy and the 2010-11 NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum. He received his master’s degree in health and physical education with an emphasis in athletics administration from Northwest Missouri in 2011.  

White is married to the former Kari Hudson of Batavia, Ill. He will begin his duties at NIU on July 1, 2014.
