DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois University Athletic Department and NIU Convocation Center have reached an agreement with ISP Sports, the country's foremost collegiate sports marketing company, to serve as the exclusive multi-media marketer for the Huskies, school officials announced Friday.
With the partnership, which officially began July 1, 2009 and extends through 2019, ISP will market a variety of corporate sponsorship opportunities involving NIU sports including live play-by-play radio broadcasts, radio and television shows featuring Huskie coaches, game publications for football and multiple other sports, and corporate hospitality and promotional events. The company will also serve as a sales representative for NIUHuskies.com, the official athletic department website.
In addition to the new relationship with NIU Athletics, ISP has formed a partnership with NIU's Finance and Facilities Operations - which manages the NIU Convocation Center and Huskie Stadium - that will allow the company to market corporate opportunities for signage in the university's on-campus athletic and event facilities.
"We are very happy to kick off this long-term partnership with ISP Sports, and look forward to working closely with them as we continue to build the Huskie brand throughout this region and beyond," said NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher. "We are confident this new relationship between ISP and Northern Illinois will benefit all parties, including our sponsors and multi-media partners."
John Gordon, Director of the Convocation Center and Huskie Stadium, was equally pleased with the announcement.
"The NIU Convocation Center is excited to work with ISP and NIU Athletics to form this one-stop marketing approach, giving our current and future sponsors the opportunity to be involved with a wider range of options than ever before," Gordon said. Based in Winston-Salem, NC, ISP is the sales and marketing partner for more than 60 universities, conferences, bowl games and venues across the country. That list of clients includes nationally-recognized programs such as Auburn, Florida State, Pittsburgh and UCLA, as well as Mid-American Conference members Akron, Kent State, Miami and Ohio. ISP also serves as the marketing representative for the MAC football and basketball championship events.
