Northern Illinois and WSCR AM 670 The Score Extend Broadcast Agreement

Aug. 4, 2009

CHICAGO - Chicago sports radio powerhouse WSCR 670 "The Score" will continue to be the broadcast home of Northern Illinois University football and men's basketball games, Northern Illinois Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Jeff Compher announced Monday on behalf of NIU and its multi-media rights partner, ISP Sports.

Through the agreement, Northern Illinois football and men's basketball contests will be heard on the 50,000-watt station for the next three years. Also the radio home of Major League Baseball's Chicago White Sox, The Score boasts a signal that can be heard in 38 states and reaches an audience in the millions. The station, which is owned by CBS Radio, has carried Huskie games for the last four seasons.

"We are extremely pleased to announce that through this new agreement with our multi-media partner, ISP Sports, The Score will continue to be the radio home of NIU football and men's basketball for the next three years," Compher said. "Our relationship with WSCR AM 670 ensures that college football fans throughout Chicagoland and far beyond will be able to hear Huskie games each week, while providing the station with exciting live game broadcasts of NIU sports. We believe this partnership is great for Northern Illinois, for The Score, for Huskie fans and for college sports fans in general."

In addition to all Northern Illinois football games (except those which directly conflict with White Sox games), WSCR-AM will air 20 Huskie men's basketball games each year and will carry the school's weekly 30-minute athletics update show "NIU Live" on Thursday nights from August through March.

"We are excited about extending our partnership with NIU," said Mitch Rosen, Program Director for WSCR. "The relationship over the past four years has been extremely beneficial to both The Score and NIU."

In April 2009, WSCR-AM 670 The Score was selected as the most popular sports radio station in Chicago, according to a survey of fans by the Chicago Sun-Times.

NIU recently signed a 10-year agreement with ISP Sports, the nation's foremost collegiate sports marketing company, to serve as the exclusive multi-media marketer for the Huskies. Through that arrangement, ISP is responsible for the Huskies' corporate sponsorships, including its live radio broadcasts and radio and television shows, and will manage the Northern Illinois ISP Sports Radio Network.
