DEKALB, Ill. - This year for Halloween, Northern Illinois fans won't have to go door-to-door for their favorite candies. Instead, they can "trick-or-treat" at the Convocation Center with some of their favorite student-athletes at the "Huskie Halloween Bash."

Coaches and players from the NIU men's and women's basketball teams will be handing out candy to trick-or treaters on the concourse of the Convocation Center Oct. 31 from 4-6:30 p.m., in-between the NIU football game versus Akron, and Huskie volleyball match against Ball State. Fans will also have the opportunity to play games, and meet the athletes, along with their respective coaches. Select student-athletes from other NIU athletic teams are also expected to be in attendance.

Fans are encouraged to dress up, and anyone wearing a costume will receive free admission to the volleyball match at Victor E. Court. In the early edition of the football-volleyball doubleheader, the NIU Athletics Department will celebrate the 2009 Hall of Fame class.

The "Huskie Halloween Bash" is free and open to the public. For questions, contact Amanda Benzine in the NIU Marketing Office, at 815-753-0639, or via e-mail, at abenzine@niu.edu.
