Huskies on the Airwaves

"Inside Huskie Football" Radio Show
"Inside Huskie Football" returns for its fourth season on the flagship station of NIU football, WLBK 1360 AM and 98.9 FM. The show returns to Monday nights in 2013 and will air from 7-8 p.m. each week throughout the football season, as well as on Huskie All-Access through www.NIUHuskies.com. Fans are invited to join Northern Illinois Head Coach Rod Carey and host Bill Baker, the "Voice of the Huskies" at Cabana Charley's Tiki Bar and Grille, 1470 S. Peace Rd. in Sycamore for the show. Two Huskie players and other NIU Athletics coaches and staff will also join Baker each week. "Inside Huskie Football" will air on a delayed basis on WTJK ESPN 1380 in Janesville, Wis. on Thursdays from 7-8 p.m.

Dates for the show this season are Sept. 9, 16, 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 and Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25.

"NIU Weekly" Radio Show
Northern Illinois fans can also hear Carey chat with hosts Andy Garcia and new NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean Frazier each week on "NIU Weekly." The 30-minute show airs on WSCR 670 AM The Score in Chicago and will include a weekly visit from Carey, the latest updates from Frazier and visits with Huskie coaches across all sports.

"NIU Weekly" will air on the Score and also can be heard on demand on NIUtube following the broadcast. Beginning Sept. 14, the show moves to its regular air time of Saturday mornings at 7:30 a.m. On Oct. 5 and Oct. 12, wake up early to hear the show at 6:30 a.m. "NIU Weekly" can be heard 18 times this year on 670 AM The Score, including each week through Nov. 23. "NIU Weekly" will also air on WLBK FM 98.9 FM and AM 1360 Friday nights during the season from 6:30-7 p.m.

The Northern Illinois-IMG Sports Network
Fans can listen to every Northern Illinois football and men's basketball game, as well as most women's basketball contests, on the Huskies' flagship station, WLBK AM 1360 and 98.9 FM in DeKalb, your home for the Huskies.

The Northern Illinois IMG Radio Network will have complete coverage of every Huskie football game this season. WLBK AM (1360) and FM (98.9) will carry every game and WSCR 670 AM in Chicago will broadcast 10 NIU football regular season games across its 50,000-watt clear channel station. The Northern Illinois game at Idaho on Sept. 14 at 4 p.m. will air on WYLL AM 1160 in Chicago while the Huskies' home opener versus Eastern Illinois at 6 p.m. on Sept. 21 can be heard on WIND AM 560 in the city. WTJK ESPN 1380 in Janesville is also part of the NIU IMG Radio Network and will air every game beginning Sept. 28 with the Purdue game.

Network coverage begins 30 minutes prior to kickoff and features a preview of the Huskies' upcoming game along with a look at the Mid-American Conference, a visit with Athletic Director Sean Frazier and the NIU offensive and defensive coordinators. Following the game, listeners hear directly from NIU head coach Rod Carey as part of the post-game show.

The veteran broadcasting crew of Bill Baker and Mark Lindo welcome "NIU Weekly" host women's basketball play-by-play man Andy Garcia to the call on all football broadcasts in 2013.

Baker, 65, begins his 34th year as the play-by-play voice of Northern Illinois football and basketball in 2013. A member of the NIU Athletics Hall of Fame, Baker also hosts the weekly "Inside Huskie Football" radio show and serves as master of ceremonies for various NIU Athletics banquets and events.

Lindo, 55, returns as the network analyst and statistician for his 28th season in 2013. The Aurora product served 18 seasons as head boys basketball coach at Naperville North High School and in that role was inducted into the Illinois High School Association Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. He spent seven seasons as the color analyst for IHSA Television, and is entering his fourth year as a member of the men's basketball staff at Aurora University.

Garcia is in his first full season on the Huskie sidelines, after filling in on spot detail in the past. Garcia has been the play-by-play caller for the NIU women's basketball since the 2011-12 season. Garcia also works for the Westwood One radio network.

Former sideline reporter Casey Kahler remains with the Huskies as he now serves as the general manager of the NIU IMG Radio Network.

Huskies on TV
The Northern Illinois football team will appear on television several times during the course of the 2013 season. While some games are scheduled in advance, others get picked up on short notice. For the most accurate and up to date television schedule, check the football schedule on NIUHuskies.com and click on the corresponding game you are looking for. NIU Gameday Central is also a resource for fans to check during game week as the current game that week will be listed under the TV header on the page.

Games that are not on television can be found online via NIUHuskies.com or (if applicable) the host school's website. Football games that are scheduled to be streamed online (as of September 10, 2013) are the Sept. 14 game at Idaho (GoVandals.com) and the Huskies Oct. 26 contest versus Eastern Michigan.
