QUOTES

END OF DAY QUOTES (AT SUSPENSION OF SEMIFINALS)

STANFORD HEAD COACH ANNE WALKER

On what the team needs to do to advance to the championship match...
"We have one kid all square with two to play. We have one in the 18th fairway that's one up. I think I would call it, at this point, even Stevens as we head into tomorrow, especially with 18, a par five, playing like it is. I think we just need to hit one shot at a time, play golf and see where we shake out."

On how her team has handled the weather conditions Tuesday...
"I'm just really proud of them. They've been mentally tough all week. I don't think we've had an easy day yet. There was a window of time this morning for about an hour that I thought, this is kind of pleasant. Actually, it was right before we got called up. I was like, this is kind of pleasant. Then, we were called off. They've just been staying strong and staying really patient all week."

POST-QUARTERFINAL QUOTES

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA HEAD COACH ANDREA GASTON

On their quarterfinal match…
"It was a really close match, obviously. We gave them some chances, but I think they played a very disciplined game. They made a lot of putts, and they hit a lot of great shots. I knew we were going to have to step up to have a chance to beat them. They are, obviously, more accustom to this kind of weather, and I really think they stepped up to the task. I really respect Therese and what she's doing with her program. I'm proud of our girls to pull out a win. It was definitely one of those exciting finishes. Hopefully, we'll play a little better golf in the second match. We're going to need to, playing Northwestern."

STANFORD HEAD COACH ANNE WALKER

On this morning's match...
"It was definitely a fight with them. They made us work hard and I'm glad they did. With so many freshmen, they saw how deep you need to dig to win."

On the key to winning in match play...
"I don't think there's one key for match play, I believe it's usually the person who plays better golf will come out on top. You want them to play your own game, keep an eye on what your opponent is doing and make decisions that make sense."

On if her team made the successful transition from stroke to match play...
"That's to be determined. I'm going to talk to the team and see how they felt about the morning and we'll go from there."

ARIZONA STATE HEAD COACH MISSY FARR-KAYE

On the win...
"I'm really excited about how we managed the golf course this AM.  This group has a mentality that is exciting to watch in match play, and I'm just happy for them, I'm really happy for them.  We're going to go take a little break, get some food and see who we play this afternoon."

NORTHWESTERN HEAD COACH EMILY FLETCHER

On this morning's win...
"This is a credit to their hard work, we had a little bit of heartbreak these last few years, we didn't play our best coming down the stretch but to see our kids pull through today and not only get here in the fashion that we did, but to get that first win this morning is really spectacular."

On the team's comfort level with match play...
"We've played match play quite a bit during the year so we just left it to that. We've talked a lot match play strategy all during the year. We called in Coach (Pat) Fitz (Fitzgerald, Northwestern head football coach) last night for a little FaceTime and a little Luke Donald video this morning for inspiration."
