Scott Limbaugh, Vanderbilt Head Coach - First After Day Three
On today's round and getting a complete team effort…
"We didn't play the back nine as well yesterday. I think we finished really well today and we talked about that last night. Understanding who we are and what we do. For us, it's all about having all five guys in it on the golf course. With a championship of this caliber, everyone is nervous and everything is hard. So, the more times we can get everybody in there fighting, it really matters. I was proud of the entire team effort."
Ryan Hybl, Oklahoma Head Coach - Tied for Second After Day Three
On the team's performance….
"We finished so great, right there. Out of our counted scores, we were five-under on this last hole. I know the guys are excited, lunch is going to taste a lot better. I love the fact that we hung in there because Brad (Dalke) didn't play very good for us, and the rest of the guys really kind of towed him today. That was a nice team effort."
On the team's plan for tomorrow's play…
"I want all five of my guys to be in the game with some fire power, some energy, the proper emotions and come out here with the same game plan we've kind of been doing all week."
Chris Zambri, Southern California Head Coach - Tied for Second After Day Three
On the day overall…
"It was a great day for us, Rico (Hoey) had an awesome day, he really put us on our back, although other guys played solid too. I think we had three under-par rounds, including Rico's, it was good."
On getting some rest after the first three days…
"It is really nice, I think everyone is still a little beat. I'm happy that we are going to get a little rest because I think people are a little worn out. We love the tee times, we love going early for sure, but we had another early morning and we could use a little rest."
On heading into tomorrow…
"We are just going to try to do exactly what we have been doing, nothing different, and put up a good round. We are going to play the exact same way, no safer, no more aggressively, just do what we are doing and hopefully we make some putts.
Mike Small, Illinois Head Coach - Fifth After Day Three
On today's round…
"If we play a good round tomorrow then we'll have a chance and if you don't then we won't. That's what you want to have happen, you want to have control over it. We were in control most of the day and really most of the tournament until the last couple of holes today but that's what this golf course can do. I think that has happened to a couple of teams already but we need to be stronger than that. If we play from the first hole to the 18th green tomorrow then we'll have a chance."
On how the course is playing…
"It's drying out but it's still not firm. The wind came up today a little different direction. It was calm early but we got out there after it was blowing but I thought we handled it really well. We played pretty strong through 13 holes but then had a little trouble coming in. The course is great and it's in great shape, it's open for someone to really go low."
Bryce Wallor, UCF Head Coach - Fifteenth After Day Three
On Kyler Tate…
Coming from regionals, he was playing some decent golf in the regional tournament. He just kind of continued to get better as the putter started to get hot for him. He got some compression off the tee, the ball started to get a little distance and coming in here this week he just had that putter going. He's hit the golf ball far, he's hit the golf ball in play, but that putter has really done him some justice.
On the team's overall performance…
I'm really excited for our guys. Looking at where we've been as a program and the progress we're starting to make, this is a fairly young team. I'm just excited for what we can continue to do."
On today's play…
Today, we kind of stumbled and really got off to a slow start. In the middle of our round, everybody just kind of picked it up. Juuso (Kahlos) ripped off three birdies in a row. Kyler (Tate) birdied his way from 16 through 2. Manuel (Elvira) made eagle on 18. So we really kind of picked ourselves up in the middle of the round and got ourselves back in it.
Scottie Scheffler, Texas - First After Day Three
On maintaining a rhythm on the course…
"You need a game plan for sure. For the most part, the game plan changes day-by-day with the wind and the weather and I think it'll change tomorrow with a good amount of wind (forecasted). (I'll) just figure it out in the morning when I get up and get a plan going and stick to that."
On his par five scoring…
"Par five scoring has been big for me this week. I've been putting the ball in the fairway on the par fives. It's almost a full shot difference if you're putting it in the fairway. It's just been about starting on the tee, putting it in the fairway and seeing what we can do from there."
On the importance of staying above the cutline…
"It's very important, it's what we came here. That's our goal and we're sticking to it."
Braden Thornberry, Ole Miss - Second After Day Three
On today's round…
"I got off to a little bit of a shaky start. I was one-under through three, so I was feeling good and then I four putted five. I had to stay patient there and get my round back together. I made a couple birdies and got hot on that side. Still made a couple bogies, but I think I had five birdies on that side. I am happy with my finish and where I am at. Everything feels good so I am looking forward to tomorrow."
Matthias Schwab, Vanderbilt - Tied for Third After Day Three
On how he has played so far…
"I'm happy with how I played. From what I can tell now, the team is doing well too, so I'm happy and excited with where I am and where the team is. I think the first two days were nice, but we've just got to finish it off tomorrow."
On his and Vanderbilt's plans moving forward…
"We'll approach tomorrow the same way, just as we approached the first three rounds. We're just going to focus on our game, go shot-by-shot and don't think about outside factors. We have to be steady and solid."
Dylan Meyer, Illinois - Tied for Third After Day Three
On his round…
"I had a good front nine today. I got a lot of things going, made a lot of putts, kind of hit a lull on the back nine. Wasn't swinging quite well. I didn't lag-putt my golf ball like I should have. Just have to get ready tomorrow and prepare correctly."
On the course…
"The course is playing fair. It's tough but it's fair. You have to be able to hit good golf shots and place your ball in the correct spots. I am just happy to be here and I know these guys are too. We are all ready to compete tomorrow and chase that leaderboard down."
On the crowds…
"It is awesome. It is a big momentum booster. You make a couple birdies and you hear the roars from the guys behind you and in front of you making birdies. You hear that and just want to keep battling for your team and do the same thing."
Rico Hoey, Southern California - Tied for Fifth After Day Three
On his round…
"It was really great. I knew coming into today that I had to post a good score and I'm glad that I did. I started really hot on the front nine, so it was kind of nice to finish strong with a birdie on 18."
On what worked for him today…
"Everything clicked. I was hitting it really well, I had a lot of tap-in birdies on the front nine so that really helped out a lot and everything came together."
On his mindset going into tomorrow…
"To just keep doing the same thing and help my team out. The tournament is not over yet, once we get into match play that is what we want to do and hopefully we will do well there."
Kyler Tate, UCF - Tied for Fifth After Day Three
On his round…
"I played a really good round again today, I got off to a pretty good, made a silly bogey on 15 and from there I made five birdies in a row, they just all went in and after that I grinded it out. I made some really good pars coming in, hopefully it will give our team the opportunity to play tomorrow."
On being near the top of the leaderboard…
"It is a great opportunity to have a chance to win a tournament like this but I don't think you can look at the future like that, you have to play one shot, one hole at a time and see where you stack up at the end of the day. If you go out and say you are going to win it, I don't think that really helps your chances. Also, I'm concerned about how the team is doing, hopefully we can get through to tomorrow and then if we get through tomorrow to match play I think we can be dangerous."
Thomas Walsh, Virginia - Tied for Tenth After Day Three
On his playing strength during the round…
"The putter was pretty hot. I think I had 10 or 11 putts on the back nine of the course. I really wasn't hitting well, this was the worst I've hit it in three days but when I gave myself chances, I capitalized. My short game was really solid, I was chipping them inside of 10 (feet) and making the putts."
On his approach…
"I think huge part of it was our head coach (Bowen Sargent) with the game plan that he helped our team and myself develop. It's really opened our options and has made the course, not easy, but much less stressful for ourselves and I just capitalized on those parts that we talked about capitalizing on."
On the importance of a game plan at Rich Harvest Farms…
"It's everything on this course. You won't get around this course if you don't have a good game plan. It's an unreal course, it's quirky too so you have to have an unbelievable game plan to manage your way around this place."
