Life After Football
Matt Clarkson '94
Offensive Lineman

A senior major accounts sales executive with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, Matt Clarkson, who earned his degree in economics, credits his experience at Northern Illinois University to his success in life. As a member of the NIU offensive line from 1989-1994, Clarkson helped clear a path for LeShon Johnson's single season rushing record and helped Johnson to consensus All-America honors.

"NIU enables graduates to develop a strong business knowledge base that is indispensable in growing your career," Clarkson said. "When you begin your professional life, you lack the experience of more tenured employees. My education from NIU enabled me to escalate my knowledge base at a more rapid level and provided quicker opportunities for advancement."
