A long snapper and reserve center during from 1994-96 career at NIU, Patrick Sandusky loved competition and sports so much he chose to pursue a career in it. The Chief Communications Officer of the United States Olympic Committee, who earned his degree from Northern Illinois in journalism, joined the USOC after a successful tenure at Hill & Knowlton (H&K). In his four years at H&K London, he led 27 H&K offices around the globe working on London's successful bid for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

"Playing football certainly helped me mature and learn very early on the value of teamwork and leadership," Sandusky said, "while the education I received prepared me for the job market, with both great teachers and thinkers, it also gave me access to NIU alums in the Chicago area that I was able to connect with for internships and real world work experience."
