Huskies In The NFL
-Northern Illinois has a long history of sending players to the National Football League as 42 Huskies have played for 29 different NFL teams while 32 NIU players have been selected in the NFL Draft.
- In 2009, record-setting Northern Illinois defensive end Larry English became the highest draft choice in school history when he was selected 16th overall by the NFL's San Diego Chargers.
-English joins a large group of current Huskies in the pros that includes All-Pro running back Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons, Super Bowl winning offensive tackle Ryan Diem of the Indianapolis Colts, Doug Free and Sam Hurd of the Dallas Cowboys, Detroit Lion Jake Nordin and the Chicago Bears' Garrett Wolfe.
- Two former Huskies have earned Super Bowl rings, with Clarence Vaughn winning titles with the Washington Redskins in 1988 and 1992 while Ryan Diem was a starter on the Indianapolis Colts team that won Super Bowl XLI.
