What We Know
The MAC has three guaranteed bowl tie-ins for qualifying member institutions:

1. Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, Detroit, Mich. (formerly the Motor City Bowl)

2. International Bowl, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

3. GMAC Bowl, Mobile, Ala.

Both institutions that participate in the Marathon MAC Championship Game are guaranteed a spot in one of the MAC affiliated bowls. Thus, only one other MAC bowl-eligible team is guaranteed a bowl spot. While the GMAC Bowl has first selection, it is not obligated to take the winner of the Marathon MAC Championship Game. Other factors can influence a bowl's decision on invitations.

The Mid-American Conference and its bowl-eligible institutions are monitoring the national landscape as it relates to possible at-large opportunities. These "at-large" openings may be available to a qualified MAC team not selected for one of the league's guaranteed tie-ins.

Going into December, there are two bowls that project to have at-large spots available. Teams with seven or more wins receive first consideration for at-large opportunities. While it is not guaranteed a MAC team would be selected for these bowls, it is certainly possible. Those games are:

1. EagleBank Bowl - Washington, D.C.
Tuesday, December 29, 2009

2. Roady's Humanitarian Bowl - Boise, Idaho
Saturday, December 30, 2010

While the Huskies are BOWL ELIGIBLE, they are not BOWL GUARANTEED.

Please continue to monitor this page and Huskie Happenings for all the latest updates on NIU bowl scenarios. GO HUSKIES!!!
