Huskie Athletic Support Fund (HASF) is the official support group of Northern Illinois University Athletics. Supporters of the HASF, donate their financial support, their services, and their time to surround NIU student-athletes with the resources they need to develop into champions in the classroom, in competition, and in life.
Funds raised through the HASF directly support NIU sports programs. This support is critical to the success of all NIU programs as each program is faced with the rising costs of recruiting, travel and competition.
Some facts about the HASF:
- For the third straight year, HASF finished its annual fund drive with record-breaking figures in both number of donors and in dollars raised.
- The HASF 2009 Annual Fund drive concluded with 1,424 donors contributing $1,304,207.72 as gifts surpassed the million-dollar mark for the third consecutive year.
- Over the last two years, the average HASF donation has quadrupled in size and for 2009, a total of 307 donors increased their gift from the previous year. In addition, the HASF welcomed 389 new donors in 2009.
- A portion of HASF dollars directly support our Student-Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) unit, which assisted our 475 student-athletes in posting an outstanding EIGHTH straight semester with a cumulative grade point average exceeding 3.0.
