In coordination with the entire university, the Northern Illinois' Department of Intercollegiate Athletics provides the region with educational opportunities, quality facilities and support systems for all student-athletes. We provide access to top quality faculty and highly professional staff, premier educational programs and a comprehensive, competitive athletics program that, guides, supports, develops and encourages student-athletes. We are strongly committed to developing the next generation of leaders.

We provide an environment conducive to academic and athletic success leading to successful graduation, championships and national exposure. We promote school spirit, provide affordable entertainment, maintain fiscal responsibility and comply with NCAA rules while maintaining the highest level of excellence and integrity in everything we do. The department will cultivate pride among its constituents in the institution and its achievements. In the end, we remain steadfast in our commitment of providing each and every student-athlete with a world class experience - academically, socially and athletically.

IF YOU ARE A COLLEGE TRANSFER READ THIS:

Based on current NCAA rules, Northern Illinois CANNOT respond via e-mail or phone to any four-year college transfer student without the student-athlete obtaining a release from the first college and faxing that release to the Northern Illinois Athletic Department at (815) 753-7700. Once the release is obtained from the first college, then the Northern Illinois University coach will be able to contact you. In sports other than football, basketball and baseball (as of August 2008), four-year college transfer students should make sure their current college will release them to be immediately eligible to compete before considering Northern Illinois University.
