DEKALB, Ill.-The NIU Football faithful came together at Faranda's Banquet Center in DeKalb on the evening of National Signing Day to experience Huskie Football like never before.
Those in attendance spent the evening up close and personal with the NIU Athletics Senior Staff, the entire NIU Football Coaching staff and their spouses, John Rey; Mayor of DeKalb, Huskie Athletics supporters, and even the newest addition to the Huskie family was in attendance, Mission!
After the mixer portion of the evening, supporters were invited into the grand banquet room that was spruced up with NIU gear, and red and black linen throughout. Brad Hoey; NIU Director of Marketing was the evening's MC and introduced Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Sean Frazier. Frazier spoke from his own first-hand experience as a college football student-athlete about how important National Signing Day is for these young men who have made the decision to join the Huskie family and how this next step will help to mold them into men.
The evening's main speaker was NIU's Head Football Coach Rod Carey. Carey went in depth into the background on each and every new signee. The football program also prepared exclusive highlight videos of each signee, giving attendees an insider perspective that won't be found anywhere else. Carey told stories from the recruiting trail and gave his perspective on the interactions with recruits families and high school coaches.
