Before I get into anything, I would like to congratulate Brian Riegler, Tom Kotis, Ben Etcheverry and Cory Krupp for getting their first career hits as NIU Huskies. I would also like to congratulate Jeremy Gonzales on his performances out of the bullpen in his first weekend as a Huskie.
If you were keeping up with us on GameTracker, you already know, the weekend was not very pretty. We found out real quick why Arizona State is ranked in the Top 15 in the country. ASU was very patient all weekend. They capitalized on all of our mistakes. It is the little things that made such a huge difference in the weekend.
It is hard to make judgments on this weekend's performance. It is very tough to simulate game speed inside of our facilities. We pushed ourselves to compete as best we could. We don't need to look at the results of this weekend but concentrate on the positives that came from it. It was a great experience to get to play a team of their caliber. They were very impressive. Almost as impressive as Jordin Hood's new slick-backed hairstyle.
We are looking forward to practice this week then heading back on the road Thursday afternoon to Clarksville, Tenn. to play Austin Peay.
I also want to give thanks to all of our supporters this weekend. We had a good fan base of family, friends and alumni make the trip with us.
Sidenote --- To the person who stole Jamison Wells' Ipod, please return it. He purchased a coloring book at the airport to entertain himself.
We arrived back in DeKalb at 4 a.m. this morning. The campus was covered in snow, and lucky for us, Huskies love the snow.
Good Night and Good Luck,
