Our weekend at Austin Peay was a defensive struggle. We just could not get comfortable. Austin Peay resembles a MAC team more so than Arizona State did. Playing them allowed us to get a feel of what battling for a MAC Championship will be like.

Our offense did a better job as the weekend went on. It is nice to see Jordin Hood, David Reynolds, and Joe Etcheverry swinging pretty hot bats at the same time. The results may not be there but they are each squaring balls up, which is good to see this time of year. Troy White also made our first "Web Gem" of the season late in game three.

It was good to see former NIU short stop and Oriole prospect Bobby Stevens and his dad, Bob, in the stands this weekend. Bobby was on his way to spring training and wanted to see us play before he headed off to work for the rest of the spring and summer.

Early in the season our weeks are cut short. We need to take advantage of every minute we have in the Rec because we get back to business in Cali this weekend. We start off our spring trip bringing our Etcheverry boys back home to Bakersfield for the weekend. We will worry about the other teams when that time approaches. For now, we are focusing in on Cal State Bakersfield.

And that's the way it is.
