Senior Jeff Thomas will be blogging throughout the season about his experiences as a member of the Huskie baseball team. The outfielder from Loves Park, Ill., has made 100 career starts as the starting leftfielder the past three seasons. Thomas' latest posting talks about the first weekend of the Huskies' spring trip to Texas and the adventure of traveling to the Lone Star State.

Howdy everybody! We're in Texas for the week playing some ball in the Lone Star State. We are having a tough trip so far, but that is how it goes sometimes.

Personally, I am not a fan of the Texas weather that we have encountered; I thought it would have been a little bit warmer down here. I guess it beats 10-degree weather back home, though.

I want to talk about our plane/rollercoaster ride to get to Texas. I've never felt a plane land on one wheel before. I'm not going to lie, I was sitting uneasy for a second there. The pilot did get us here so I am thankful for him doing so.

The first day down here was very busy. We got off the plane at 9 a.m., got onto a bus and drove for three and half hours to the hotel. We got changed for the game in 15 minutes and headed to the field to play a 7 p.m. game. By that time I wasn't too tired since I had a nice little bus nap.

We have many good games coming up this week against Texas-San Antonio, Oklahoma and Dallas Baptist. Hopefully we can have a little more fun out here and get into a winning streak. I want to recognize Marv (Marvin Sanchez) for his first collegiate hit and stolen base a week ago.

Well its time for this Huskie to get some sleep and get ready for six games in five days this week.
