TWO OUTS? NO PROBLEM
Since the start of the Mid-American Conference play (March 22), the Huskies are 60-for-208 (.288) with two outs on them, including 46 runs. Compared with its opponents in two outs situations, Northern Illinois is outhitting its opponents by 46 points (.288-.242) and has outscored its foes, 46-26, en route to a 12-6 record. 12 different players have registered RBI in that span with Alex Klonowski paving the way with seven runs batted in.

Tommy Hook AND HIS HOT BAT
Freshman Tommy Hook had a heck of a weekend at Ohio, going 7-for-13 (.529) at the plate with four runs scored, two RBI and a double. Along with his two walks, Hook carried an on-base percentage of .600 to lead the Huskies in that category. Hook has 28 starts this season is third on the team in batting average (.289) to lead all newcomers. He is 5-for-7 with two outs and a runner on third.

TOUGHEST TO STRIKE OUT
Per NCAA Statistics weekly report issued April 22, junior Alex Klonowski is 78th in the country out of 150 in the toughest to strike out category. The Kearney, Mo. native has only struckout 11 times in 141 at-bats this season. Klonowski is second on the team in batting average with a .291 clip.

Jamison Wells IS VERY FAST
Senior Jamison Wells, Northern Illinois’ all-time leader in stolen bases at 83, has been a force to be reckoned with on the base paths, stealing 19 bases to rank 30th in the country. As a lead off man, Wells carries a .270 batting average with a team-high 22 walks to sport a .394 on-base percentage. He uses his speed for other purposes as well, doubling as a wide receiver on the NIU football team. Wells played in all 14 games last season, including the Orange Bowl, catching 16 passes for 180 yards.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS
The Wildcats sport a 17-14 record and are 6-9 in Big Ten play. Northwestern won its series versus Michigan last weekend, 2-1, and was highlighted by a 6-0 victory over the Wolverines at Wrigley Field April 20. In midweek games, the Wildcats are 4-0 with victories over Chicago State, St. Francis, UIC and Wheaton, all of which were at home. Following its game with the Huskies, Northwestern will head to UW-Milwaukee Wednesday for a contest at Miller Park. Kyle Ruchim is hitting at a .390 clip this season with nine doubles, three triples, two home runs and 16 RBI. Zach Morton has driven in 26 runs thus far. The Northwestern pitching staff has been brilliant this year with a 3.05 ERA.

SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES
Iowa is 14-20 this season and is 3-9 in conference contests. The Hawkeyes are coming off a 1-2 weekend at Penn State, winning Saturday’s game, 5-2, but dropping Sunday’s quest for the series victory, 7-4. In midweek affairs, Iowa is 2-1 with wins over Nebraska-Omaha and Western Illinois and its lone loss to Kansas. Through 23 appearances, Nick Roscetti leads the team with a .352 average while Kris Goodman carries a  .323 with starts in all of the Hawkeyes 34 contests. Jake Yacanich leads the team with 19 RBI. Relief pitching has been a strength of Iowa this season with Ricky Sandquist leading the way with a 1.36 ERA in 33.0 innings. Taylor Kaufman has a 3.60 earned run average in 35.0 innings of work. As a staff, the Hawkeyes sport a 4.37 average.

NEXT UP
The Huskies will host a Mid-American Conference series at Ralph McKinzie Field against third place Miami (Ohio) April 26-28. Northern Illinois is the MAC West leader with an 11-4 record and shares the lead with Buffalo, while the Redhawks are tied for third with Kent State at 9-6.

Mathey Earns 200th NIU Win as Huskies Roll Iowa 13-2
Two runs in the first inning. Two hitters with two hits apiece in the sixth inning. Two hitters with two RBI in separate at-bats each in the same inning. Two runs allowed. Two consecutive wins. Two hundredth win. The crazy twos were the composition of the Northern Illinois baseball team's impressive performance of scoring a season-high 10 runs in the sixth inning and getting a dominant one-hit effort from starter Jake Hermsen en route to a 13-2 win over Iowa Wednesday.
