DeKALB, Ill. - After a late July call up to the Bluefield Orioles, the Baltimore Orioles' Rookie League affiliate in the Appalachian League, former Northern Illinois pitcher Any Deain (2006-10) has extended his season another week. With Bluefield's season ending Tuesday, Deain was immediately sent to the Aberdeen IronBirds, Baltimore's Class-A Short-Season affiliate in the New York-Penn League.

Deain signed with the organization on June 14 after going undrafted earlier in the month's MLB Amateur Draft. Before his promotion to Aberdeen, Md., the former Huskie closer began his professional career in the Gulf Coast League for extended spring training, where he owned a 2.61 ERA in 10.1 innings over seven games. After moving to Bluefield, W. Va., in July, Deain made 16 appearances, posting a 3.96 ERA in 25 innings. In his first exposure to professional baseball, the Crystal Lake, Ill., native has a combined 3.57 ERA in 23 games and 35.1 innings.
