DeKALB, Ill. - The Northern Illinois baseball team will host its Elite Prospect Camp Monday Jan. 21 at DeKalb Recreation Center for grades 8 and up, designed to improve give players personalized attention in their mechanics whether in the field or on the mound. A pitchers/catchers session (10 a.m.-1 p.m.), as well an infield/outfield session (1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.) are available for a fee of $90. Players can attend both for $160.

Check-in begins 30 minutes before each session. Each session is limited to 65 players.

In the first session of the day, Pitchers will receive instruction along with personalized attention during mechanical-drills and bullpen sessions. Catchers will receive instruction along with personalized attention during blocking, receiving, throwing and hitting drills.

In the afternoon session, hitting, throwing and position specific defensive skills instruction will be the focus of this session. Participants will receive a written skill evaluation based on all drill sessions and a “pro-style” workout.

Players will have a chance to work with Northern Illinois baseball coaching staff, along with current and former NIU players.

Campers should bring their own glove, bat, tennis or turf shoes (to be worn on the turf inside the DeKalb Recreation Center) and appropriate practice attire. CLEATS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE DeKALB RECREATION CENTER. NIU will provide helmets, baseballs and training tools.
