Cedar Falls, Iowa - Northern Iowa spoiled the debut of first-year Northern Illinois head men's basketball coach Ricardo Patton, as the Panthers knocked down 10 three-pointers and out-rebounded the Huskies, 48-30, on their way to the 75-45 victory in the BTI Tip-Off Tourney at the McLeod Center on Friday night.

 

UNI sophomore center Jordan Eglseder topped the Panthers with a double-double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. The Panthers also received double-digit scoring from both Travis Brown (14 points, 3 treys) and Jared Josten (11 points, 3 treys).

 

As a team, UNI shot 51.9% (28-for-54) from the field and 47.6% (10-for-21) from three-point range, while the Huskies were held to 32.7% (18-for-55) shooting.

 

With the victory, UNI improves to 1-0 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 0-1. NIU is back in action on Saturday, as they will meet the UMass Minutemen for a 5:45 p.m. (CST) tip-off.

 

NIU guards Ryan Paradise and Michael Patton each led the Huskies in scoring with seven points apiece.
