Northern Illinois Men's Basketball 2006-07 Post Game Quotes NIU vs. Winthrop - Dec. 2, 2006

Winthrop 72, Northern Illinois 62

Winthrop Head Coach Gregg Marshall

"This is a nice win for us to go 6-2 on the year. Last year we played an unbelievable game in Rock Hill and I knew Coach Judson would have his guys ready today.

"Our guys did what they needed to do in the middle of the game to get the victory. We weren't great offensively, but we were good enough with our defense being as stout as it was.

"These guys are mentally tough. They didn't let it [the long travel day on Friday] bother them.

"This is a good win for us but I think as time goes on it will be an even better win."

Northern Illinois Head Coach Rob Judson

"Winthrop is an excellent basketball team. We knew going in that they were battle-tested. They kept their poise very well when we got off to a good start.

"We hit a stretch where we turned the ball over uncharacteristically and then we did get a good shot, it didn't bounce our way. That stretch was the difference in the game.

"I thought we attacked the basket, we had more points in the paint than they did, but you can see the disparity at the free throw line.

"Their defense was good but we just had those uncharacteristic fundamental turnovers, especially in the first half."

NIU Junior Guard Zach Pancratz (career high 22 points vs. Winthrop)

"They have a lot of weapons that can hurt you. They do a good job of running sets for those guys."
