NIU Men's Hoops To Present Lt. Gov. Quinn, Illinois Military Family
Relief Fund With $3,000 On Jan. 22

Northern Illinois University men's basketball will present Illinois
Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn with a check for $3,000 for the Illinois
Military Family Relief Fund at halftime of its Jan. 22 basketball
game vs. Eastern Michigan (7:05 p.m.).
Part of the
team's Hoops 4 Troops campaign, NIU men's basketball, along with
the Northern Illinois University College of Business, have been
selling red silicone bracelets with the inscription "Huskie
Hoop Time" to raise funds for the relief fund, which provides
financial assistance to national guardsmen and reservists called
up to federal active duty. So far, the relief fund has provided
over $2.4 million in financial assistance to more than 4,300 families
in the state of Illinois.

bearing the battle'. This is an excellent example of how everyday

Sold for $1
apiece, the Huskies have already sold 3,000 silicone bracelets and
will continue to sell the bracelets at home basketball games for
the rest of the season.
