DeKalb, Ill. - Northern Illinois learned on Tuesday that the Huskies will host the Horizon League's UW-Green Bay for the 2007 O'Reilly ESPNU BracketBusters event for a 2 p.m. (CST) tip-off at the NIU Convocation Center on Saturday, February 17th.
The Huskies are hosting their first BracketBuster contest after being on the road for the previous three years. This will be the 28th meeting between the two teams with UWGB holding a 22-5 advantage over NIU.
"We are looking forward to our first game as a host and we've enjoyed our opportunity to be involved in the BracketBuster event," NIU head coach Rob Judson said. "Playing against UW-Green Bay from the Horizon League will be a competitive challenge for our team."
NIU senior guard Mike McKinney (Evanston, Ill.) tops the Huskies in scoring, averaging 13.3 points-per-game. Huskie senior center James Hughes (Silvis, Ill.) follows McKinney offensively with 12.1 points-per-contest, while junior point guard Ryan Paradise (Naperville, Ill.) adds 10.1 points-per-game.
UWGB (12-10, 4-5 Horizon League) is led offensively by senior guard Ryan Evanotchko, who is pouring in 15.3 points and chipping in 5.1 assists-per-game. As a team, the Phoenix are shooting 39.6% (145-for-366) from beyond three-point range. Freshman guard Troy Cotton paces the Phoenix three-point shooting attack, converting 50.0% (39-for-78) of his attempts.
