Following a two-game home stand, Northern Illinois returns to the road as it travels to Bowling Green for a Saturday evening contest with the Falcons. Last time out against Ohio, Antone Christian scored a season-high 15 points as the Huskies went to the half trailing the Bobcats by just one before falling 67-58. Bowling Green evened its conference record last time out with a 72-48 victory at Western Michigan.
About Bowling Green
The Falcons enter Saturday evening’s contest with a 10-11 overall record, 4-4 in conference play. Bowling Green has four players scoring in double figures, led by 13.3 points per game from A’uston Calhoun. Scott Thomas is the second-leading scorer for the Falcons at 11.7 points per contest; he also leads Bowling Green with 6.7 rebounds per game. The Falcons are the third-best shooting team in the MAC with a .460 field goal percentage.

Northern Illinois trails Bowling Green in the all-time series, 28-25, the Falcons also hold a 19-10 edge in meetings played in Bowling Green. The Falcons have won the last five meetings between the two teams, including two encounters last season, a 73-70 overtime game in DeKalb and a 74-54 MAC Tournament First Round game. NIU’s last win in the series came on Feb. 7, 2007 (73-51) and its last win in Bowling Green was on Jan. 11, 2006 (75-74). Saturday’s contest will be NIU’s first visit to Bowling Green’s new home, the Stroh Center.
Déjà Vu Against the Bobcats
Antone Christian scored a season-high 15 points last time out against Ohio (Feb. 1). Last season against the Bobcats (Feb. 5, 2011), Christian posted his highest point total of the season, netting a career-high 17 points. Christian had his second-best scoring game last season in the regular season meeting against Bowling Green (Feb. 2, 2011) when he scored 15.
Getting to the Line
Northern Illinois went to the free-throw line a season-high 29 times against Buffalo (Jan. 28), converting on a season-best 21 of those chances (72.4 percent). During MAC play, the Huskies have done a better job getting to the free-throw line as a team, averaging 20.4 attempts per game after averaging just 14.8 attempts per contest during non-conference.
NIU will return home to DeKalb on Wednesday, Feb. 8, when the Huskies host Miami (Ohio) at the NIU Convocation Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
