Cleveland, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced on Monday (Feb. 12) that Northern Illinois freshman guard Cody Yelder (Calumet Park, Ill.) has been selected as the MAC West Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending February 11.

Yelder, who had missed 10 games after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, averaged 14.5 points and shot 69.2% (9-for-13) from the field in two contests off the bench for NIU in a pair of Huskie victories.

His most impressive performance came in Saturday's 81-74 win over Ohio, snapping the Bobcats' 14-game home-winning streak. The Calumet Park, Ill., native posted a career-high 20 points, including a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line with under a minute remaining in regulation against Ohio.

For the season, Yelder is averaging 8.6 points-per-game and is shooting 55.4% (41-for-74) from the field in 13 contests.

NIU (6-17, 3-8 MAC) is back in action on Tuesday (Feb. 13) night, as the Huskies welcome Ball State (8-16, 4-7 MAC) for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the NIU Convocation Center.
