DEKALB, Ill. -- The Northern Illinois men’s basketball team will open the 2012 Mid-American Conference Tournament on the road against Eastern Michigan on Monday night. The Huskies and Eagles will tipoff at 7 p.m. ET at the EMU Convocation Center in Ypsilanti, Mich.

NIU and Eastern Michigan have met twice this season with Eastern Michigan pulling down a pair of wins in close games. The Eagles earned a 47-40 victory in DeKalb on Jan. 11 and a 48-45 win in Ypsilanti on Feb. 22.

Monday’s contest will be the second meeting between the Huskies and Eagles in Mid-American Conference Tournament play. The two schools met in the first round on March 7, 2010, a 65-59 Eastern Michigan victory in Ypsilanti.

The winner of Monday’s first round game will advance to the second round of the MAC Tournament where they will face the winner of the Ball State-Western Michigan first round game. That second round matchup will take place on Wednesday, March 7 at 7 p.m. ET at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio.
