DEKALB, Ill. -- With tonight’s Kent State loss at Akron, the Northern Illinois University men’s basketball team has guaranteed itself a first round home game in the 2014 Mid-American Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament. The Huskies will play Monday night, March 10, at the NIU Convocation Center, the game time and opponent will be determined by Saturday’s final regular season games.

Monday’s first round game will mark the first time NIU has hosted a men’s basketball conference tournament game since 2003, when the Huskies hosted Buffalo in the MAC Tournament First Round. NIU defeated the Bulls, 81-64, and advanced to the MAC Tournament Semifinals.

The Huskies will close out the 2013-14 regular season tomorrow, March 8, when they host Ball State at 3:30 p.m. at the NIU Convocation Center. The contest will be the second game of a doubleheader as the NIU women’s basketball team hosts Western Michigan at 1 p.m.

Tickets for Monday’s first round game will go on sale beginning at tomorrow’s doubleheader. Tickets start at $8 for general admission, $10 for reserved seating.
