8 a.m. China Time
Yesterday, prior to our game in the city of Rong Chang, some of us experienced an earthquake for the first time. Immediately following this ground shaking experience, we met its twin sibling. Both were small yet its impact told some, "not to take anything for granted." It was then, that I began to think about the many earthquakes or in other words obstacles that may delay us or completely stop us from growing and reaching goals.
In reaching goals, it is not always about the degree of difficulty that stands before us, it's the actual mind set behind our thinking!
Our resilience, determination, motivation, preparation and embedded sense of urgency, to climb Mt. Everest should be the same if not more prior to climbing a small hill or bump in the road.
Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
Obstacles are exactly what we need in our life in order to grow. We would not be as strong as we are without them depending on our approach to them.
As I have said before, you have to have perfect practice to become perfect and you have to be a consistent person with consistent actions, to expect and receive consistent results.
Prior to embarking on our journeys, we can't expect to accomplish things alone and for this reason the 2008 Sports Reach Tour and China are responsible for me increasing my personal, professional and spiritual growth.
Most importantly, it's never too late!
Thank you China and Thank you Sports Reach,
Associate Head Basketball Coach
P.S. We endured yet another earthquake. We were defeated 94-86 in a game we once led by 22 points.
