Tony Nixon to Compete in IBCA All-Star Game
June 21, 2009
DEKALB, Ill. - Incoming freshman Tony Nixon, the lone member of head coach Ricardo Patton's 2009-10 recruiting class, will compete in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Class 1A/2A Senior All-Star Game on June 27 at the Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill., on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. Nixon helped guide Seton Academy (South Holland, Ill.) to the 2009 Class 2A state championship in just the program's sixth season of existence. It was the team's first-ever trip to the state tournament. Nixon, who is already on campus attending summer classes and working out with his teammates, will be a member of the North roster, coached by Pontiac High School mentor Nate Nallen, and Pittsfield High School head coach Brad Tomhave. Nixon represents the seventh active NIU player hailing from the Chicagoland region, joining Darion "Jake" Anderson (Carver Military Academy), Mike DiNunno (Von Steuben), Michael Fakuade (Von Steuben), Lee Fisher (Thornridge), Bryan Hall (Whitney Young) and Keith Smith (St. Ignatius).
