DEKALB, Ill. -- Former Northern Illinois star Xavier Silas will play for the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA’s Las Vegas Summer League. The Bucks begin their summer slate on Saturday, July 13 against the Denver Nuggets.
Last season, Silas played 33 games for the Maine Red Claws, averaging 12.1 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest. In his first professional season, 2011-12, Silas played 39 games for the Red Claws, scoring 9.8 points per game. Silas also played two regular season and two playoff games for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2011-12, becoming the first Huskie to play in the NBA since Donald Whiteside in 1997-98.
In two seasons as a Huskie, Silas scored 1,072 points, becoming just the third NIU player to reach the 1,000-point plateau in two seasons. As a senior, Silas averaged 22.3 points per game, best in the MAC and seventh-best nationally, while earning First Team All-MAC and First Team NABC All-District 14 honors.
The Bucks will play the Denver Nuggets (July 13), New Orleans Pelicans (July 14) and Golden State Warriors (July 16) in their opening three games of the Summer League. The 22 teams will then be seeded into a single-elimination tournament that will conclude on July 22. The Las Vegas Summer League will be televised on NBA TV.
