DeKalb, Ill. - Northern Illinois University head men's basketball coach Rob Judson has built a solid foundation for his squad in DeKalb, but now he has a House.

Judson announced on Thursday, that he has inked seven-foot, 220 pound Zach House (Rock Falls, Ill. / Rock Falls) to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Huskies, beginning in the 2007-08 campaign.

"Zach House is an excellent recruit for our program," Judson said. "We began following his progress before his freshman year, when Zach began attending our team camp with Rock Falls High School. He is right at seven feet, runs very well at that size and continues to improve his athleticism. He has good hands and a nice shooting touch from the high post to go along with his defensive presence inside.

"He is one of the top students at his high school, so Zach brings the whole student-athlete package to our program."

As a junior, House played a key role in helping Rock Falls to a berth in the Class AA Supersectionals and a final record of 29-3, averaging 6.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.9 blocks-per-game on a balanced scoring team. The 2005-06 campaign was the Rockets' first in Class AA.

Rock Falls head coach Mike Winters believes the best is yet to come for House.

"NIU is getting a big man with a tremendous upside in Zach," Winters said. "His athleticism is starting to catch up with his growth spurts and you can see marked improvement on almost a daily basis. He is also developing a mid-range jump shot and looks very good coming off of screens on the perimeter right now, which is very impressive for a kid his size.

"Combine all of this with a strong work ethic and the potential is there to be an outstanding player for NIU in the near future."

The Huskies open their exhibition season on Thursday night, as they welcome St. Francis (Ill.) to the NIU Convocation Center for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
