DeKalb, Ill. - Northern Illinois head men's basketball coach Ricardo Patton announced on Friday that he has signed Dominique Johnson (Detroit, Mich. / Laura F. Osborn / Southwest Tennessee C.C.) to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Huskies beginning with the 2008-09 campaign.

Johnson, a 6-foot-5 sophomore guard at Southwest Tennessee C.C., is averaging 19.6 points-per-game helping the Saluqis to the third-best scoring average in NJCAA Division I at 108.9 points-per-game.

"Dominique is a continuation of our efforts to bring in guys that have a feel for putting the ball in the basket," Patton said. "He is a big time athlete that is doing a nice job of taking his junior college team hopefully to the National Tournament."

Johnson joins previous signees Mike Dinunno (Chicago, Ill. / Von Steuben), Bryan Hall (Chicago, Ill. / Whitney Young) and Tyler Storm (Geneseo, Ill. / Geneseo) as the newest members of the Huskie family.

The Huskies are back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they host Lamar for a 1 p.m. tip-off at the NIU Convocation Center.
