2008: Appeared in the Kent State game as a member of special teams. 2007: Started seven of 10 games in which he played. Started the Huskie Stadium opener vs. SIU (9-8). Caught one pass for nine yards vs. Ball State (11-24), his only catch of the year. Started consecutive games against Toledo (10-17), Kent State (11-10) and Navy (11-17). Moved up the depth chart as injuries hit the tight end position. 2006: Redshirted. High School: First team Catholic League All-White Division, honorable mention Kankakee Daily Journal All-Area, and Illinois Football Coaches Association Academic All-State as a senior. Caught 22 passes for 340 yards (15.5 avg.) and six touchdowns while adding 30 tackles, 10 pass deflections, and seven sacks as defensive end on 9-3 conference champion and Class 5A playoff qualifier during his senior season. Entered senior campaign on preseason Chicago Sun-Times league Top Five Players and Area Top 100 Players lists.
