2007: Appeared in eight games as a backup offensive lineman. Played on the PAT/FG unit. Saw action against Idaho (9-22), Central Michigan (9-29), Temple (10-6), Western Michigan (10-13), Wisconsin (10-20), Toledo (10-27), Kent State (11-10) and Ball State (11-24). 2006: Saw action in three games as reserve offensive lineman. Made collegiate debut with 20 plays on offensive line against Indiana State (9-23). Appeared in seven plays vs. Temple (10-21). Played five snaps in regular season finale at Eastern Michigan (11-24).
2005: Redshirted. High School: Honorable mention All-Suburban East Conference named to Minnesota Vikings All-State High School Football Team for Section 3 champion and Class 5A semifinalist as a senior. Played in Minnesota All-Star Football Classic following senior season. Three-year football letterwinner and earned two letters in basketball and one in track. All-conference honoree in basketball after leading league in rebounds and blocked shots for team that reached state's Elite Eight. Honor Roll student. Personal: Born Nov. 20, 1986 in St. Paul, Minn. Sociology major. Older brother of WR Nico Holmes. Son of Gary and Karron Holmes. Fan of Shaquille O'Neal. Father, Gary Holmes, played basketball at Minnesota and was co-captain of the 1981-82 Big Ten Championship team before being drafted by the Detroit Pistons. |
