High School: Named to the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association Class 5A All-State team on both the offensive and defensive line after his senior season at Marian Central Catholic High School. Named second team all-state by the Chicago Tribune. Earned the Suburban Christian Conference's Defensive Lineman of the Year Award after his senior season. Garnered special mention all-state honors in 2011 from the Chicago Sun-Times. Helped the Hurricanes average 37 points per game in 2011 en route to an 11-1 record, conference championship and a Class 5A quarterfinals appearance. Recorded 55 tackles and four sacks on defense as a senior. Served as a team captain during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Ranked as the ninth-best recruit in Illinois, 28th-best guard in the nation and 45th-best prospect in the Midwest by ESPN. Won the regional championship and placed at sectionals last year as a member of the wrestling team. Earned all-conference honors with the baseball squad in 2011.
