High School: Named team co-captain and MVP, first team All-Big 12 Conference at quarterback and defensive back and league Offensive Player of the Year. Selected first team Champaign News-Gazette All-Area at defensive back and Area Player of the Year, second team Chicago Tribune All-State at defensive back, and first team Champaign News-Gazette All-State on defense as a senior. Amassed 1,851 yards of total offense on 63-of-148 pass attempts for 1,165 yards and 11 TDs, and 686 rushing yards and 11 TDs. Totaled 30 tackles, seven interceptions, and five fumble-causing hits on defense for Class 6A playoff qualifier during his senior campaign. Tied school record with 40 career touchdowns and compiled 3,482 career yards. Voted team co-MVP, first team All-Big 12 at defensive back, and first team Champaign News-Gazette All-Area after scoring two defensive TDs on a fumble recovery return and an interception during his junior year. Team's Outstanding Sophomore and honorable mention Champaign News-Gazette All-Area during his second prep season. Earned three letters in football and basketball and two in baseball. Basketball team's Defensive Player of the Year and honorable mention All-Big 12 as a junior. Recipient of Thurgood Marshall Academic Award, Big 12 Leadership Award, and Big 12 Scholar-Athlete Award.
