NIU's Jordan Lynch surpassed the 3,000-yard mark in passing for the season to become the first player in NCAA FBS history to pass for more than 3,000 yards and rush for more than 1,500 in a year. Lynch entered the game with 2,962 passing yards this year and threw for 176 yards in the game. His 3,138 passing yards this season rank second on the NIU all-time single season list, 78 yards shy of Chandler Harnish's 2011 record-setting total.
Northern Illinois senior Martel Moore caught a touchdown pass for the fifth consecutive game when he scored on an 11-yard reception in the third quarter for the Huskies' first score. Moore's TD was his 13th of the season, tying him for second on the NIU single season list (with Sam Hurd, 2005).
With his 25th touchdown pass of the season (to Martel Moore in the third quarter), Jordan Lynch tied Josh Haldi for third place on the Huskies' single season chart.
Lynch attempted 41 passes in the game to set a new NIU school record for pass attempts in a season with 394. Lynch passed Chandler Harnish, who attempted 384 passes in 2010.
The Huskies' 10-point total was the fewest points scored by an NIU team since Sept. 2, 2010 when the Huskies lost at Iowa State, 27-10, in their season opener.
The 21-point loss was NIU's worst since falling to No. 7 Wisconsin, 49-7, on Sept. 17, 2011 at Soldier Field in Chicago.
With four catches tonight, Martel Moore tied Hugh Rohrschneider (1963) for fourth on the NIU single-season receptions list with 75. He finishes his Huskie career with 178 catches, fourth on the NIU career list.
Lonnie Pryor's 60-yard touchdown run in the first half was the longest given up by the Huskies in 42 games. On Nov. 27, 2009, Central Michigan's Bryan Schroeder scored on an 80-yard run in a 45-31 Chippewa victory.
Northern Illinois successfully converted a fake punt for the third time this season on its field goal drive in the first quarter when Desroy Maxwell took off on a 35-yard conversion. Maxwell's carry was the first of his career.
NIU's 83 rushing yards is the lowest total of the season. The Huskies' previous low was 147 yards versus Iowa.
Jordan Lynch's 41 pass attempts is the most this season and the most in a single game in his career.
Senior Demetrius Stone made his team-leading third fumble recovery of the season in the first quarter on a fumble forced by Rashaan Melvin. It was Melvin's first caused fumble of the season.
Freshman Paris Logan recovered Tyler Wedel's onside kick after the Huskies' first score of the second half as NIU converted on its first onside kick of the season.
NIU Halftime Notes
Northern Illinois has trailed in five of their 13 games this year, including the Toledo and Kent State... the Huskies are 4-1 in those games.
Northern Illinois has trailed at halftime in two games this season. The Huskies were behind 21-17 at Western Michigan and 14-7 versus Toledo. NIU won the WMU game, 48-34, and defeated Toledo, 31-24.
Jordan Lynch has a 57.5 yard punting average on the season after a 52-yard punt in the first quarter was downed at the FSU five-yard line.
Rashaan Melvin's 1.5 tackles for loss are his first of the season.
