NIU vs. Ball State - Oct. 6, 2012
Muncie, Ind. - Scheumann Stadium

***NIU improved to 5-1 on the season and is 2-0 in Mid-American Conference games. The Huskies' start is its best since the 2003 season.

***Northern Illinois won its ninth straight Mid-American Conference regular season game and has won four straight league road games. The Huskies' last MAC regular season loss came in the first league game of 2011 when the Huskies fell on the road to Central Michigan, 48-41 (Oct. 1).

***Northern Illinois came from behind in the fourth quarter to win a game for the third time this season. The Huskies overcame a six-point deficit at Army (Sept. 15) to win 41-40 and trailed by 10 points (23-13) versus Kansas (Sept. 22). Northern Illinois trailed at halftime for the first time all season when Ball State took a 16-14 lead with 1:41 to play in the first half.

***NIU quarterback Jordan Lynch gained a career high 207 yards on 29 carries, an average of 7.1 yards per carry, in the Huskies 34-23 win. Lynch recorded his first 200-yard rushing day, and his fifth 100-yard rushing game of the season. He has also run for 100 yards or more in four consecutive games. Lynch came into the game as the No. 1 rushing quarterback in the country. He now has 789 rushing yards, an average of 131.5 yards per game.

***Lynch scored three rushing touchdowns, on runs of 29, 12 and 71 yards, and now has nine rushing touchdowns on the season. Lynch's first touchdown came on fourth-and-two from the BSU 29-yard line in the first quarter. His 71-yard score came with NIU clinging to a 28-23 lead with 3:03 to play and iced the victory for the Huskies.

***Jordan Lynch finished the game 16-for-23 passing with 195 yards and one touchdown without an interception. Along with 207 rushing yards, he was a mere five passing yards shy of becoming the 11th player and second NIU quarterback to rush and throw for 200 yards in a game. Chandler Harnish accomplished the feat in 2011 versus Western Michigan (October 15)

***Tommylee Lewis recorded his longest kickoff return of the season with a 40-yard effort to help set up the Huskies' second score.

***After a three-touchdown week versus Central Michigan last Saturday, Leighton Settle added to his rushing touchdowns total with a one-yard run for the Huskies' second score. Settle now has five rushing scores on the season.

***NIU was 0-for-7 on third down conversions in the first half. Their only third down conversion of the game came on the play prior to Akeem Daniels go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter.

***Northern Illinois' nine penalties for 78 yards marked season highs for the Huskies in both categories.

***Huskie linebacker Michael Santacaterina picked off his second c***areer pass, and first of the season, in the third quarter. Santacaterina's INT was the Huskies' second of the game, the first time this year the Huskies have intercepted two passes in the same game. His interception was NIU's fourth of the season and first by a linebacker.

***With his 54-yard go-ahead touchdown with 4:58 left in the fourth quarter, Akeem Daniels finished the game with five catches for 78 yards. He was one yard shy of his career-high of 79 yards from last season's Bowling Green game when he had one catch for 79 yards.
