Recap |  Final Stats

***Toledo was the first Northern Illinois opponent to put up two scores on the Huskies before NIU could get on the board. In each of its previous five games, Northern Illinois had either scored first (three times) or second (twice).

***For the first time in his two-year career at Northern Illinois, Mike Salerno did not convert on an extra point as his PAT try after NIU's first TD was blocked. Salerno had made 50 consecutive PATs, including 16 in 2009, prior to the play.

***NIU tailback Me'co Brown scored his fourth rushing touchdown of the year on a one-yard run late in the second quarter. Brown led the Huskies in rushing for the fourth time in six games this year with 94 yards on 22 carries. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in career rushing yards in his 19th career game.

***NIU quarterback Chandler Harnish was picked off for just the second time this year and for the first time since the Purdue game. Harnish had gone 12 quarters without an interception.

***Northern Illinois held the Rockets below their season average in both total offense and passing yards. Toledo was averaging 324 passing yards and 470 yards of total offense, but gained just 230 and 387, respectively.

***Linebacker Cory Hanson picked off his third pass of the season in the fourth quarter. He had two INTs in the Wisconsin game and now has six for his career, including a team-leading three this season. He tied his season-high, and the team season best total, with 11 tackles to lead NIU.

***Northern Illinois had a season-high nine tackles for loss, including two each by defensive ends Jake Coffman and Brandon Bice. Bice also caused a pair of fumbles and had a quarterback sack.

***The Huskies lost despite having more turnovers, 3-1, converting more third downs than the Rockets (7-of-14 to 5-of-12) and holding the ball longer than UT. NIU has not lost the turnover battle all season. Saturday's loss marked the first time NIU has lost while converting more third downs than its opponents.

***The Huskies scored touchdowns on all three of their trips inside the red zone and are now 24-of-25 inside the red zone this season.

***Landon Cox established new season and career highs for catches and receiving yards in a game with six grabs for 70 yards on the day. Cox is the Huskies' leading receiver on the year.

***Quarterback Chandler Harnish tallied a pair of rushing touchdowns, his first two rushing scores of the season. He now has six rushing TDs in his career.

***NIU failed in its effort to win back-to-back games versus Toledo for the first time in school history while falling behind in the series, 29-8, and losing in Toledo for the 18th time in 20 tries.
