NORTHERN ILLINOIS FOOTBALL 2012 NIU Postgame Notes NIU Streaks Extended: NIU's 63 points is a season high and tied for the ninth-most in a single game in school history. Its 63-point victory ties for the fifth largest margin of victory ever. It's the most points scored by NIU since the Toledo game last season, (Nov. 1, 2011). In MAC games, NIU's 63 points is tied for the fourth-most in school history and is tied for its second largest MAC victory ever. Northern Illinois recorded its first shutout in 53 games, since Sept. 27, 2008 versus Eastern Michigan (37-0). Northern Illinois' nine touchdowns tied for the fourth-most in a single game while the nine PATs made ranks second on the single-game list. Both marks are the most since the NIU-Toledo game a year ago. The Huskies combined for 332 rushing yards on 42 carries (7.90/carry), NIU's third-highest mark this season. In 34 plays, Jordan Lynch accounted for 348 yards of total offense to average 10.2 yards per play. He rushed 15 times for 157 yards for a 10.5-yard average with a 57-yard score and threw for 191 yards on 15-of-19 passing with two touchdowns. Lynch played the first half and one drive in the third quarter and left the game with NIU leading 42-0. Lynch has not thrown an interception in six-straight games and 166 pass attempts. His last interception occurred on the opening play of the fourth quarter against Kansas Sept. 22. Jordan Lynch was 15-for-19 passing (78.9 percent) with 191 yards and two touchdowns this afternoon. His completion percentage surpassed his season-high mark of 76 percent (19-for-25) versus UT Martin on Sept. 8.
The quarterback added to his NCAA record for most consecutive 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback with 157 yards on 15 carries for his eighth straight 100-yard day. Lynch's eighth straight 100-yard day also broke the NIU record for most consecutive 100-yard games in a season. Lynch previously was tied for the NIU single season record along with Garrett Wolfe (2004). Lynch recorded his ninth 100-yard rushing game of the season which is tied for first all-time at NIU. It has previously been done five times by four players, including Michael Turner twice (2002 and 2003). Lynch's touchdown run in the second quarter gives him six straight games with at least one rushing touchdown. He has 11 rushing scores over the last six games. Jordan Lynch's two touchdown passes give him 19 on the season, good for seventh place on the NIU single season list. He needs two touchdown passes to tie Chandler Harnish (2010) for sixth. He also has 16 rushing TDs as he added a 57-yard touchdown run. With three total scores (two passing and one rushing), Lynch has accounted for 35 touchdowns, the second-highest single season total in school history. NIU career highs NIU "firsts" Moving up the charts NIU's 33 rushing touchdowns this season is the seventh-most in school history. Martel Moore caught his 19th career touchdown pass in the first quarter to move into a tie for fourth on the NIU all-time list. Moore has eight touchdown catches on the season for his single season career best. Akeem Daniels scored a pair of touchdowns - one rushing and one receiving - for his third rushing and second receiving scores of the year. Daniels finished the game with four carries for 34 yards and the 17-yard touchdown catch. |
