DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois University football season ticket holders will receive a 45 percent discount AND watch one of the winningest teams in the nation over the past four years from the best seats in Huskie Stadium in 2014 as NIU Athletics officials rolled out its ticket prices and season ticket plans Tuesday.

In 2014, NIU is asking fans to "Commit to NIU" by purchasing football season tickets and supporting the Huskie Football team that has won more games than all but one team in the country over the last four seasons. NIU's 46-10 record since 2010 includes four consecutive appearances in the Mid-American Conference Championship game as MAC West Champions.  The Huskies have won 26 straight games in Huskie Stadium as the venue has become one of the toughest in the country for visiting teams; the atmosphere both inside and outside the stadium before and during games has garnered acclaim as the best in any MAC stadium.

In 2014, season tickets for the five-game home schedule will cost just $110 for the general public and $95 for NIU faculty and staff, senior citizens and members of the NIU Alumni Association as NIU looks to provide its most loyal fans with even greater value this year.  Fans can choose to purchase season tickets on either the East or West Side of Huskie Stadium.

"NIU football season tickets are one of the best sports entertainment values in the country, especially considering the success Huskie football has enjoyed this century" said NIU Associate Vice-President and Director of Athletics Sean T. Frazier.  "Our prices in 2014 for season tickets will ensure that our most loyal and committed fans continue to receive the same consideration and value."

Season ticket holders who commit during this designated "Early Signing Period" will also receive an invitation to an exclusive season ticket holder event prior to the season AND a special gift. Fans who renew or purchase new Huskie Football season tickets by April 30 will earn even more benefits, including the guaranteed right to purchase tickets to the NIU football game at Northwestern on Saturday, Sept. 6 before the general public on sale date.

In accordance with the philosophy to reward those who "commit to NIU" by purchasing season tickets and attending the five home games scheduled for Huskie Stadium this year, prices for single game tickets on the West Side of Huskie Stadium have been raised.  The price of single game tickets will now range from $40 for seats located between the 30-yard lines in sections C, D and E (Level 1) to $36 per game in the Level 2 (sections B and F, lower rows of A and G) and $25 for seats in the upper rows of sections A and G (Level 3). NIU Faculty and Staff, senior citizens and NIU Alumni Association members will pay $34 and $30, respectively, for seats in Level 1 and Level 2.

NIU will also sell General Admission tickets on the East Side of Huskie Stadium for $20 per game.  West Side tickets will no longer be able to be used on the East Side.

The Huskies will host five home games in 2014, beginning Thursday, Aug. 28 when NIU will look to extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 27 games versus Presbyterian.   NIU has not lost a game in Huskie Stadium since 2009.  The Huskies will be at home on three consecutive October Saturdays versus Kent State (Oct. 4), Central Michigan (Oct. 11) and Miami (Oct. 18).  The home schedule concludes on Tuesday, Nov. 11 when NIU plays host to MAC West Division rival Toledo on an ESPN network in a game that has become one of the most-anticipated on the MAC schedule each year.

Season ticket renewal packets will be mailed out this week, and every packet includes a copy of the new season ticket guide (click here to view).  NIU will introduce several new premium seating and club areas for 2014 on Wednesday as well as "The Yard" at Huskie Stadium, located adjacent to the stadium on the West Lawn, which will serve as the official NIU Athletics pregame tailgate location beginning in 2014.

In addition, NIU has produced a new publication that will be sent to all season ticket holders and all donors to the Huskie Athletic Support Fund, which has been re-branded as the Huskie Athletic Fund. Find out more information about the new Huskie Athletic Fund Wednesday at www.huskieathleticfund.com.
