DeKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois Athletics will celebrate Springfest 2013 with the annual spring football game and a full schedule of Huskie softball and baseball this weekend on the NIU campus. Every event, except the inaugural Xs and Os with the Pros Men's Football Clinic (click here for more information), is free and open to the public.

Parking for the weekend is also free and can be found along Stadium Drive, in the NIU Convocation Center lots and in lot PS across the street from Ralph McKinzie Field and the NIU Soccer/Track & Field Complex. Due to the rains this week, parking in the West and East Grass has been closed. If fans would like to tailgate, they can park at the Convocation Center in lot C-2.

Saturday will mark the LAST chance for Huskie fans to become a permanent part of the new Kenneth and Ellen Chessick Practice Center through the NIU Huskies Legacy Brick Campaign. Personalized bricks can be purchased online at www.NIUHuskies.com/fanbrickswith prices starting at $200 or ordered at the SpringFest Tailgate tent, where there will be a table set up to take orders. Fans can add their name or dedication permanently to the brick walkway that will fill the Yordon Family Huskie Pride Plaza, which will serve as the entrance to both the Yordon and Chessick Practice centers. Each brick comes with a keepsake replica perfect for display.

Also at the SpringFest Tailgate Party, tables will be set up where you can purchase "NIU Football," the book detailing the history of the Huskie football program, and your own keepsake of the Orange Bowl, the official fan ring or ladies pendant. The author of "NIU Football," Dan Verdun, will be at SpringFest to autograph any books purchased that day. Jostens will have a representative on hand to take your ring order.
