April 27, 2010
DEKALB, Ill. - Northern Illinois University's Eddie Adamski signed a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings, while Mike Salerno was invited to the Chicago Bears Rookie Camp. A fixture on the offensive line, Adamski led all NIU players with 50 career starts over the last four years and started 42 straight games for the Huskies. One of three Northern Illinois offensive players to earn first team All-Mid-American Conference honors in 2009, Adamski helping lead the MAC's No. 1 rushing offense and redzone offense. NIU also led the league in sacks against, allowing 15 all season. Salerno, NIU's kicker the past two seasons, will be trying out with the Bears Thursday-Sunday at the team's practice facility in Lake Forest, Ill. A second team All-MAC selection for the second straight year, the Orland Park native was second on the team in scoring with 96 points going 19-of-25 on field goal attempts and converting 39-of-41 extra point attempts. He tied the school record with a 52-yard field goal versus Bowling Green Oct. 25, 2008. Adamski and Salerno join Jason Onyebuagu, who is trying out with the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend, as former NIU football players participating in NFL camps this weekend. -NIU-
